Hazen High Girls Cross Country team recognized for academic success

November 14, 2018 —Hazen High School Girls Cross Country team has been recognized as the state’s academic award during the fall sports and activities season. The Hazen student-athletes won the Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires Scholastic Award, presented in association with the Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association, as being among the top teams in the state to excel in sports and activities while also maintaining a high combined team grade point average (GPA). Hazen’s 7-member team, led by Coach Matt Donnelly, maintained a combined near-perfect 3.86 GPA throughout the season.


Ten additional district high school teams were also recognized with Outstanding Team honors for maintaining high GPAs of 3.5 or higher. A total of 30 district fall sports and activities teams were recognized as top teams in the state for maintaining a combined GPA of 3.00-3.49.
