April 18, 2017—Hundreds of customers of Walker’s Renton Subaru each donated $250 to the Friends of Renton Schools foundation as part of Subaru of America’s national Share the Love event. The donations, which totaled $96,585, were made for every new Subaru purchased or leased between November and January.
The Friends of Renton Schools foundation will use the funds to continue funding programs that benefit students in every school in the district including grants for teachers to improve classroom instruction; music, arts, literacy programs; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs; and more.
This is the fifth year Walker’s Renton Subaru has provided customers with annual giving campaign; with donations to Renton students now total nearly $230,000. Dale Walker, owner of Walker’s Renton Subaru, has been actively involved in the schools foundation. According to Walker, the donation was the fifth largest of its kind in the nation.
Friends of Renton Schools foundation chair Pam Teal is impressed at the level of commitment of Walker and his entire staff to raise the funds. “Dale Walker’s entire team is incredible,” said Teal. “The entire Subaru staff worked so hard during the ‘Share the Love’ event to ensure customers knew that their donation would go directly to classrooms and help to sustain the wonderful programs being offered at every school in the Renton School District.”
