Attending the Board Meeting In-Person:

The meeting will be held at the IKEA Performing Arts Center, 400 S 2nd St, Renton, WA 98057. Registration is required to attend the March 24, 2021 School Board Regular Meeting in-person. In order to adhere to in-person meeting guidance, capacity will be limited to 70 attendees.

Below is general information regarding attending the meeting in-person:

  • Registered attendees will receive an email confirming their registration and instructions for attending the meeting in-person. Attendees can expect to receive a confirmation email the afternoon of the scheduled board meeting.
  • Registration closes at 12:00pm the day of the scheduled board meeting. Based on space availability, attendees inquiring after the close of registration may attempt to attend the in-person meeting and complete registration at the door. Attendees will be seated on a first-come first-served basis or directed to attend in an overflow location.
  • Attendees must review and sign health attestation forms before entering the meeting room. A link will be included in a confirmation email sent to you prior to the scheduled board meeting.
  • Face masks must be worn at all times.
  • Seats will be spaced six feet apart.
  • Address and contact information must be provided for contact tracing purposes. This information is not subject to public record requests.

Public Comment

The Renton School Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of involving members of the public in its meetings. According to Policy 1400, in order to permit fair and orderly expression of public comment, the board will provide two opportunities during the meeting when attendees may address the board on any topic within the scope of the board’s responsibility. We may be able to accommodate up to 20 public speakers, with an aim to balance in-person and online contributions. Delegations are limited to three minutes per speaker.

While conducting meetings in a hybrid model (both in-person and online attendance), the board will ask for those who wish to speak to make their request at the beginning of the meeting in order to balance contributions. In-person, attendees will fill out a “request to comment” card (previous policy for in-person comments). Online attendees will be provided a link to complete a request to comment during the meeting.
