Nishiwaki Program for Middle School Students

Dear Seventh Grade Students & Families,

One of our Renton School District traditions for many years has been an annual exchange visit with our sister city, Nishiwaki, Japan. We know that many of our students look forward to the  possibility of being selected as a delegate and host family.

It is with sadness that we are announcing that the Renton School District and the Superintendent of the Nishiwaki Board of Education have agreed to cancel our delegation visits for 2022. We believe this decision is for the best given the current conditions in our region and uncertainty as to what the future will bring in August and October of 2022. Please understand that we have made this decision out of an abundance of caution, and with the safety of Renton and Nishiwaki students and families in mind.
