Nishiwaki Program for Middle School Students
Dear Seventh Grade Students & Families,
One of our Renton School District traditions for many years has been an annual exchange visit with our sister city, Nishiwaki, Japan. We know that many of our students look forward to the possibility of being selected as a delegate and host family.
We are pleased to share that the Nishiwaki student exchange program will be reinstated this year. After a pause in 2020—when the Renton School District and the Superintendent of the Nishiwaki Board of Education mutually agreed to cancel delegation visits due to regional conditions and uncertainty—we are excited to resume this meaningful cultural exchange.
The health and safety of students, families, and staff in both Renton and Nishiwaki continue to be our top priority, and we are confident that conditions now support a safe and successful return of the program.
Thank you for your continued support as we relaunch this valued partnership.
Sincerely,
Gioia Pitts
Chief of Schools
