Free Heart Screening

Renton School District is partnering with the Nick of Time Foundation to offer district middle and high school students potentially lifesaving heart screenings. The free screening event is Wednesday, October 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

While the event is hosted at Renton High School gymnasium, it is available to all district students ages 12-24 years. High school students will be provided transportation to the event, if families provide consent for the screening and complete the Heath Screening form. Middle school families must transport their student to their scheduled appointment time.

Here's How High School Families Can Provide Permission for This Free Event

🏫 Renton High School Students

• Complete the Health History Form. 
• Return the completed and signed form to Renton High's main office.
• If you need a paper copy of form, you can get one from Mr. DeBlasio or the main office. 
• On screening day, students will be called out of class for approximately 30 minutes to complete their screening.

🚌 Talley, LINDBERGH, & HAZEN High School Students

Limited transportation is available from each school to Renton High School during the school day for students who would like to participate in the screening.

Interested in taking the bus?

• Complete the Health History Form. 
• Return the completed and signed form to your school’s main office.
• If you need a paper copy of the form, you can get one from the main office.
• Your school will provide additional information about transportation and screening about a week before the event.

You can schedule your own appointment through the Nick of Time website.
After scheduling your appointment:

• Print, complete, and sign the Health History Form.
• Return the completed and signed form to your school or bring it to your appointment.

👩‍👦 Middle School Students Ages 12+

An adult must transport middle school students aged 12 and older to their appointments.

If you would rather complete and sign the Health History Form electronically, please complete the electronic form request. You will receive an Adobe Sign request to complete the form online. The completed form will then be printed for you and will be available at the heart screening event.

Why get screened? Because knowing is better than guessing. Heart health isn’t just an athlete issue—it matters for every young person. Some heart conditions can be present without obvious symptoms, and a student can look and feel completely healthy. A free heart screening gives your youth an opportunity to learn more about their heart and can help identify potential concerns early. While annual well-child physicals and sports physicals are important, they typically focus on medical history, family history, blood pressure, listening to the heart, and other routine checks. A standard physical does not include specialized heart testing like an EKG.

Your student can look healthy, feel healthy, and still have a heart condition you and their health care provider do not know about.
