Language teachers in the Renton School District use aspects of the ACTFL proficiency guidelines as the core of our standards. We focus on the four areas of language learning; reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and use a variety of texts that strive to meet the interests of the students. Through our use of research-based methods of instruction, we make our classrooms active and engaging places for students to acquire languages.
Formative assessments are used throughout the language lessons. Summative assessments align with the instructional materials of each World Language.
For students that already Speak/Read/Write/Understand another language, RSD offers the STAMP test in 8th grade as well as High School for competency credits. Please contact your school counselor for more information.
