FROM PRINCIPAL PITTS

  • We are a few weeks into the school year, and it's been a great start!  The staff is hard at work teaching, assessing, and examining data within teams to ensure student learning.  Our students are engaged in learning during the school day and busy with their activities, athletics or interests afterwards.  Our parents are hard at work supporting their children while they learn and grow.  Given the busy schedules of our entire Dimmitt Middle School learning community, we see our Dimmitt weekly updates as one of the important ways we maintain communication between school and home.  It contains a variety of updates and provides you with an overview of additional items about the middle school experience.

Student Led Conferences are fast approaching.  Please contact your student's homeroom teacher to sign up for a time.  If you need additional support or have questions please contact the front office or one of the counselors: 6th grade-Scott Sturdivan, 7th grade-Angela (Harimuri) Sasao, and 8th grade-Young Chang Miller.  Conferences will take place Monday, November 19th between 11:30-2:45 and Tuesday, November 20th between 11:30-6:45.  Conferences are scheduled by appointment, so students can discuss progress and goals for the reminder of the year.

Our goal daily is to keep our building as safe as it can be for our students and staff.  As you enter the school during the day, we kindly ask that all parents, guardians, and visitors check into the main office, sign in and wear a visitor badge.  It is great to see visitors in the building to support our school, and we highly encourage this participation.  We appreciate your cooperation and attention to helping keep our building safe!

We look forward to working together with you to ensure that Dimmitt students have a fun and engaging educational experience.  I firmly believe that building strong relationships between home and school is one of the most important factors in increasing student achievement. The partnerships between home and school not only helps our students be successful, but also our overall school community.  I am honored to serve our children, staff, families, and community at Dimmitt Middle School.  It is a privilege to be a part of this community where parents, teachers, and students care for one another and build positive and lasting relationships supporting our students academically, socially and emotionally.
