The Transportation Department is committed to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services that support student learning and success. We strive to ensure every student arrives at school and returns home safely while delivering courteous, professional service to our families, schools, and community.

Renton School District provides transportation services for students who live within their assigned school's attendance boundaries and outside of the one-mile walk zone.

Transportation is not provided to students that live within the walk zone of their school of residence. Exceptions are considered for students who qualify for specialized transportation.

My Ride K-12 Mobile App

Transportation uses a mobile app called My Ride K-12 that links directly to our routing software and allows families to look up bus route information, bus tracking and communication/alerts. This is the primary communication tool used by Transportation for any information regarding your student's transportation.

for Kindergarten and Preschool Students

For preschool and kindergarten families ONLY: Students will NOT be allowed off of the bus without a parent/guardian present at the stop location. In order for your student to be dropped off with a sibling or other authorized adult the parent/guardian is required to sign and return the form below to the driver.

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

Students who are eligible for assistance through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act have the right to transportation to their school of origin provided or arranged by the district, or a joint effort among school districts. When to Stop for School Bus

Washington state law (RCW 46.61.370) outlines when drivers must stop for school buses. Drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus face a mandatory $500 fine that cannot be waived, reduced, or suspended.

• On a two-lane road, drivers traveling in both directions must stop when the bus’s flashing red lights or retractable stop sign are activated.

• On roads with three or more marked lanes, drivers traveling in the opposite direction are not required to stop. The same exception applies to highways divided into separate roadways. However, drivers traveling in the same direction as the bus must always stop.

• When in doubt, stop!
