Post-Secondary/College Transition

  • CTE courses and related services are focused on assisting all students to explore career and educational options for post-secondary transition.  Career Center and classroom activities identify resources and help to develop the skills necessary for a seamless transition for those students going directly to a community and technical college or a university. Business, Health Science, and Industrial Technology programs also offer Industry Skills certification opportunities.

Dual credit programs support students’ gradual transition to a post-secondary setting while still in high school.  CTE students in the Renton School District currently can access two types of college credit through their CTE courses:

    1.  Community and Technical College credits through the Tech Prep Dual Credit program. Students that earn a B or better in select CTE courses are eligible for college credit. (2014-2015 CTE courses that earn college credit will be finalized in December)

    2.  Four-year university credit through the following CTE AP courses:
              • AP Computer Science
              • AP Environmental Science
              • AP Macro Economics
              • AP Micro Economics
              • AP Psychology
