Graduation Requirements

  • In order to graduate in the class of 2018, students in the Renton School District must pass their required courses, earn a minimum of 22.0 credits, complete a High School and Beyond Plan, complete a minimum of 20 hours of Community Service, pass the English/Language Arts Graduation Exam, a Math Graduation Exam, and the Biology End-of Course Exam.

    Here are more details on the High School & Beyond Plan and the Community Service requirement:

    April 27: you will turn in to your Advisor (if turned in by March 31, no Late Assignment reflection required)
    -Hazen High School Class of 2018 High School & Beyond Plan Requirements Form
    -Part 2: Written Reflection (MS Word documents, 1 page, double-spaced), stapled to form
    -Part 3: Personal Resume (MS Word document), stapled to form
    Note: students who turn in their High School & Beyond Plan after April 27 will not be eligible to attend Senior Ball and must complete an additional component of the Plan: Part 2B – Late Assignment.

    No Later than June 8: Turn in to your Advisor
    -This packet, which will include the completed Part 1: High School & Beyond Plan Form- Part 2: Written Reflection (MS Word documents, 1 page, double-spaced), stapled to form
    -Part 2B: Late Assignment Written Reflection (MS Word document, 1 page, double -spaced), stapled to this Form
    -Part 3: Personal Resume (MS Word document), stapled to form

    After June 8: If not completed by June 8, you will not be allowed to walk in graduation ceremonies on June 13. All components must be completed to claim your diploma.

    Due date for submitted hours: April 27th for any student wanting to attend Senior Ball. Final due date to participate in graduation ceremonies: June 8th. For details on the community service graduation requirement, go to the Hazen Community Service webpage

FAQ’s about Graduation

  • A cap and gown unit (which includes a tassel and a stole which will be worn by all seniors this year) is $38.50. Then you add shipping and tax. Package C which is a cap & gown, stole and mascot tassel is $51.50 plus shipping and tax. The mascot tassel is not required. The regular tassel which comes with the cap and gown (package D) has the grad year on it but not the mascot.  The school provides the hard diploma cover which students will receive at graduation. Josten’s will loan cap and gowns for students who cannot afford them. (Prices were accurate for 2013. They will be updated as information is received).

    A Jostens representative will present information about ordering Caps and gowns in the Auditorium at the end of October. Orders will due early November.
