Student Assistant/Peer Tutor
Several school offices, departments and/or service areas offer opportunities for interested and qualified students to serve as assistants, or school aides. The duties could include: telephone answering, messenger service, filing, typing, duplicating materials, equipment care and supervision, shelving books, assisting at elementary schools, etc. (This service should not be confused with the work related experience offered in connection with some subjects in the Business Department). The following regulations govern this work:
1. The written approval must be obtained from the position's supervisor prior to sign-up.
2. The positions are open to students of grades 9 through 12, unless otherwise specified by the supervisor.
3. During the same semester a student may hold no more than one position.
4. For satisfactory service, .5 credit per semester is granted.
A maximum of one student assistant or student aide position is allowable per semester. A maximum of one credit may be earned by a student during the high school experience.

Students enrolled in the Peer Tutor Program work closely with a variety of students. Peer tutors assist the classroom teacher helping students in daily assigned tasks. A strong desire to assist other students is essential.
