High School Course Catalog
In the Renton School District our Core Values of Service, Excellence, and Equity guide our work, ensuring that each student graduates high school prepared for college, careers, and beyond. Selecting rigorous and relevant courses is an essential part of guaranteeing every possible opportunity will be afforded to you upon graduation as you gain the critical knowledge and skills that will be required in today’s workplace.
Because of new Washington State graduation requirements, starting in the 2018-19 school year, each of our High Schools will be moving to Trimesters. This means that instead of students taking 6 courses per 2 trimesters, with an opportunity to earn 6 credits per year, students will take 5 courses per 3 trimesters, with an opportunity to earn 7 ½ credits per year. We believe that this will provide students with more options for on time graduation.
This course catalog will provide you with valuable information that will help you plan your high school coursework, preparing you for your future. As you decide which courses to take, it will be important that you seek the guidance of your school counselor, your family, and the expertise of Career Center staff. Now, more than ever, education is the gateway to the career opportunity that you desire. We believe in you and know that with hard work, perseverance, and a curious mind, each of you will do incredible things.
Take full advantage of the learning experiences afforded to you during your high school career. We commit to supporting each of you by providing opportunities for you to graduate with options, fully prepared to participate in our democracy.
