Field Trips & Opportunities

  • National College Fair – October 27, 2017
    The NACAC National College Fair will take place at the Washington State Convention Center this fall on October 27th and 28th. Students are encouraged to attend this college fair to meet with admission representatives from colleges around the nation. There will be a field trip on October 27th from Hazen to the college fair. If you are interested in attending this field trip, come see Mr. Nguyen in the Career Center and pick up a permission slip.

    Pierce County Construction Career Day – November 16, 2017 
    As one of our country’s largest industries, the construction trades are facing a shortage of skilled workers! This opportunity is designed to inspire Western Washington high school students toward construction careers. Students will have the opportunity to operate outdoor heavy equipment and experience hands-on construction activities. Field trip forms will be available soon in the Career Center.

    Blacks at Microsoft - Minority Student Day - Date TBD
    Are you a student interested in a future in technology and come from a diverse community? This field trip will be filled with great information on what it takes to be successful in the field of technology, hands on projects and games, networking with those in the field, and insight into Microsoft’s technology. Feild trip forms will be available in December. 

    Women Fly! - Date TBD
    This special opportunity is for young women who are interested in aviation and aerospace careers and is hosted by the Museum of Flight! You will get to participate in workshops led by women currently working in the aerospace-related fields and gain knowledge about the field of aerospace. Come and get inspired to about aviation! Field trip forms will be available in early Janurary. 

    Lindbergh High School’s Trade Fair - March 14, 2018
    If you are looking for post secondary plans in the Trade field, come and check out this opportunity! You will get the chance to explore different trade and meet people currently working in them. Field trip forms will be available in February.

    College Planning Day, - Date & Location TBD
    This is a great opportunity to explore a college campus and get a grip on college planning! There will be presentations from college around the area, such as Western, UW, and WSU, and you will be able to meet with representatives from these colleges and more! Campus tours will also be running throughout the day, so there will be a chance to explore. Field trip forms will be available once the location has been determined.

    Expanding Your Horizons - March 30, 2018
    This year’s Expanding Your Horizons, half day seminar is on Friday, March 30th, that will feature hands-on workshops presented by women in STEM careers! This seminar is a great way to learn about STEM careers and can provide a great networking opportunity to learn from women in fields that you are interested in pursuing. Field trip forms will be available in February.

  • College Application Workshop @ Hazen – September 21, 2017

    Hazen is hosting a College Application Event in the Library and computer labs on Thursday, September 21st from 2:30PM – 5PM.  various College Admissions Representatives will provide one-on-one support for seniors navigating the application process – including researching colleges, filling out applications and drafting personal statements. Please take advantage of this opportunity to receive support in completing your college applications!     FAFSA/WASFA Workshop @ Hazen - October 5, 2017

    It's time to submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid). Both parents and students are encouraged to attend this workshop and meet with financial aid experts to get help completing the applications. This is a FREE workshop and will be held from 4:30PM - 7PM in the Library & computer labs at Hazen High School.
