Dec. 13, 2016― Renton-area service clubs today joined together at their annual holiday event to brighten the season for local children.
Members of the Kiwanis Clubs of Renton and Renton Soroptimists today hosted the annual Children’s Holiday Luncheon where nearly 100 children from several district elementary schools were treated to lunch and special Christmas gifts.
The clubs work with local elementary schools to help students whose Christmas can be made a bit brighter by a caring community member. Club members take wish lists and purchase special gifts that the children might not otherwise receive.
The event takes place at United Methodist Church of Renton, where students spend their lunch period to enjoy caroling, a meal provided by a local McDonald’s restaurant, and a visit by Santa who brings gifts selected and wrapped especially for each individual child.
