2016-2017 Renton School District Battle of the Books

Kennydale Elementary will be participating in an exciting competition called Battle of the Books.  This fun reading program will encourage students to work together and read a wide range of genres and authors.  All fourth and fifth grade students will be given information about participating in this year’s competition during their weekly library class in October.  There are multiple copies of the battle books available for checkout from the Kennydale library.  Participating students will be responsible for reading at least four of the titles on the list.  Working together as a team of four the goal is for all sixteen books to be read before the battles begin in March.  If a team wins the school championship, they will need to participate in the district battle during the evening of Thursday, April 6, 2017.  Battle of the Books is a great way for students to read great stories and compete to show their understanding of the story elements of each book.  It’s also a lot of fun!

Please encourage your fourth or fifth grade student to participate in this library program.  Use the reading list below to assist you if you would like to help your student find some of these books at the public library.
