Schools provide occupational and/or physical therapy when a child with a disability is found eligible for special education services and is determined by the team to need this related service to benefit from their Individual Educational Program. Students may receive direct therapy services and/or indirect consultation services provided to their classroom staff. In addition some students may require assistive technology and environmental modifications. The school occupational and physical therapists collaborate with parents, teachers and other educational staff to help implement individual children’s special education program.
