This is a list of items IMS supports and who to call for things we cannot support.
Computers, laptops, printers, and associated peripherals located in offices and classrooms throughout the district. Services include basic troubleshooting, new computer setup, software installation, and technical recommendations.

Support of a 24 station computer lab for conducting professional development classes and informational presentations for school district staff and teachers. Please contact 425-204-2453 for scheduling.
Only networked printers are supported by IMS. Small printers directly attached to individual computers are not cost effective and cannot be easily shared with multiple users.
Pre-existing district purchased non-networked printers will be supported on the currently installed computer until they fail at which time they will not be replaced. If the computer they are attached to is replaced it may no longer support the old printer. HP1012, HP1020, HP-P1006
All printing is monitored and tracked with reporting software.

Supplies the maintenance and programming for the district's PBX's at all buildings, over 2,200 phones and a 5000 mailbox voicemail system. Provides E911 database updates and overscees the SCAN long distance usage and provides authorization codes.

Access to the Renton School District network, including network user accounts, e-mail, file and printing servers, support for student information system, Internet-related services such as web filtering and SPAM blocking.
Network attached devices (if approved for connection to network) IMS will provide an IP Address and needed network information in an email. IMS does not configure or support devices not specifically listed on this support list.
Availability of limited videoconferencing capabilities through the statewide K-20 network is available with prior arrangements. Please contact 425-204-2453 for scheduling.

CDs and DVDs can be played on District Computers. Minimal support is provided for "consumer electronics" CD and DVD players.
VHS tapes are rapidly being replaced by DVDs. VHS players are not replaced by the district once they fail. Please adjust lesson plans around newer materials available on DVD or online. Please send unneeded VCR/DVD players to Surplus. If a replacement is needed, please contact Surplus.
Headphones for computers or other audio equipment are purchased and replaced from the building budget. Due to hygiene, students are encouraged to use their own headphones.
Caliphone speakers are provided on presentation stations and are replaced by IMS when they fail.
Periodic review, recommendation and publication of technology standards to insure we are able to support technology purchased in the district. Please contact Cathie Freiling for the proper ordering procedures.
Two sets of 50 response units that can be checked out for interactive response information gathering. Slides using a PowerPoint-like software program can be projected, then as questions are asked, the audience can “lock in ” their answers. The presentator can then press a button to show how the audience responded,
Phone surveys can be created to allow a large group of students, teachers, parents, etc. to answer survey questions for information gathering to make global program changes or decisions.
There are a variety of software applications used throughout the district. Only approved and properly licensed software will be installed and supported.

Intercoms, PA equipment, ceiling speakers, microphones, TVs - Call IMS to coordinate repair with vendor at building expense.
TVs and VCR/DVD players are not supported by the district. DVDs can be played on computers. Broken TVs can be sent to warehouse for surplus. The warehouse maintains a limited number of spare TVs and VCRs.
School Reader Board Signs – Call Facilities to coordinate repair with vendor at building expense.
Items that are damaged, lost, or stolen cannot be purchased with bond money and are replaced at building expense.
