Renton Schools’ ELL program meeting state marks

The state’s education office recently released reports showing that the Renton School District is making progress in meeting the needs of students whose first language is not English. The district met standards on two of three sections of the Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO), which measure the progress of English Language Learner (ELL) students.
Renton met standard using the annual Washington Language Proficiency Test on both AMAO-1—which measures the progress ELL students make in a year; and AMAO-2—the annual increase in students exiting the ELL program. Renton did not meet the AMAO-3 criteria, addressing the number of ELL students who met standard in reading and math on the WASL.  Renton School District continues to address the complex learning needs of our ELL students, and the success of all students.         SpanishUkrainian | Somali
